Robert E. Furness

American flagKENDALL – Robert E. Furness, 92, passed away suddenly January 6, 2022. He was born January 1, 1930 in Albion, a son of the late Claude and Elvira (Wright) Furness.

Bob graduated from Kendall High School, Class of 1948. After graduation, Bob went to work for Eastman Kodak and was drafted to serve in the United State Marines, during the Korean War, stationed in Japan. After the war, Bob went back to work for Eastman Kodak Co., where he retired from after 37 years of service.

Bob was an active member and Trustee at the Gaines Carlton Community Church. He was also active in the community being a member of the Kendall Lions Club and Kendall Fire Co. Bob enjoyed baseball, fishing, golf and hunting. He was a handyman, always helping someone fix something.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Diane; children, Michael Furness, Dawn (Bob) Gaylord and Tim (Theresa) Furness, former exchange student, Sue Chadwick-Brettle; grandchildren, Kristina (Shane) Nesbitt, Sarah (Justin) Collyer, Jason Gaylord, Keri, Madelyn and Isabella Furness and Katie (Ryan) Brock; great-grandchildren, Owen, Brody, Kendyl, Kinsley and Sutton; siblings, Kenneth (late Judy) Furness, Julia (DeForest) Bragg, Nancy (Ronald) Coyle and Annmarie (David) Gonyeau; sisters-in-law, Madge (William) Doty and Midge (late Charles) Warren; 4 step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 21 W. Avenue, Albion on Friday, Jan. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. Bob’s funeral service will be held at the Gaines Carlton Community Church, 14585 Ridge Rd. W, Albion, NY 14411 on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m.  Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Kendall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gaines Carlton Community Church.
