Richard W. Truax

Richard W. Truax, 85, of Rochester and formerly of Gasport, died Oct. 7, 2019 in Highland Hospital following a long illness. He was born Jan. 22, 1934 in Gasport, a son of Perry and Mary (Sneiker) Truax, and he lived in the Rochester area for more than 30 years.

Richard was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a sergeant and paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne from 1952 to 1955, and he was also a member of the VFW. He was an admirer of the outdoors, and he enjoyed a good cigar and a cold beer.

Mr. Truax was predeceased by six siblings. He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Hamminga of Olcott; as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Richard’s request, there will be no formal calling hours or services. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
