Richard BarthelRichard R. “Rick” Barthel, 61, of Kendall, died June 6, 2020 in Highland Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 8, 1958 in Rochester to Christian and Johanna (Harris) Barthel and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Rick was a graduate of the Kendall Central School District and worked as a printer for Cryovac in Rochester. He enjoyed fishing, and he was an admirer of all things MOPAR. It seemed as though he was always on a lawnmower or behind a snowblower, helping anyone in the neighborhood who needed a hand, always taking care of everyone else. He loved the outdoors, but the greatest joy of his life was his children and his grandchildren.

Mr. Barthel was predeceased by his brother, Charles; and his stepfather, Larry McMullen.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessica (Jason) Scozzafava of North Tonawanda and Angela (Chuck Kelly) Barthel of Cheektowaga; siblings, Nanci (Bill) Bogan of Batavia, Russ (Jeanine) Barthel of Kendall, Don (Lisa) Barthel of Holley, Catherine (Pete) Loran of Kent and Cynthia Merkley of Kendall; grandchildren, Danielle, Austin, Coby, Kaira, Payton and Grayson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Kendall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 726 Exchange St. Suite 815, Buffalo NY 14210.
