Richard Lee Swanger Jr.

CLARKSON – Richard Lee Swanger Jr., a beloved husband, Papa, and Pappy, passed away suddenly on October 30, 2025, at the age of 65. He was born in Clarkson, NY to the late Richard and Patricia Swanger.

Rich viewed his family as both his greatest gift and accomplishment.  He was a devoted husband to his wife, Dawn Swanger.  Their 47 years together were spent side by side: motorcycle trips to concerts, raising pigs and kids on the Norway Road, baseball games, and many road trips.  A lifelong craftsman, Rich enjoyed hand making wooden flags, which he and Dawn showcased at craft shows across the country.

He leaves behind a loving legacy in his four children: Matthew Swanger (Courtney), Tyler Swanger (Jessica), Ashton Powell (William), and Ariel Murphy (Joseph); grandchildren Lincoln, Layla, and Beaumont; and sisters Debra Swanger and Sheri Whiteside.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to share embarrassing stories and raise a glass to a life well lived.
