Penthea J. Curtis
Penthea J. “Penny” Curtis, 51, of Clarendon, died Nov. 8, 2019 following a courageous battle with high grade neuroendocrine carcinoma. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Penny was born March 30, 1968 in Brockport, a daughter of Dora (Cronk) and the late Herbert Merkley Sr., and she lived in this area all of her life. Her family was her life, and she loved spending time with them. Penny loved to laugh and draw, and she enjoyed truck mudding and traveling. She visited 22 states, and her favorite city was New Orleans.
Penny is survived by her daughters, Cortney (Derek) Sevor and Jennifer Curtis; a son, George (Morgan Tinkous) Curtis; grandchildren, Charlotte and Sullivan Sevor, and Greyson Curtis; mother, Dora Merkley; siblings, Suzette Hahn, Yvonne (Phil) Newbould, Sarah Davis, Sandy (Scott) Ellis, Joseph Merkley, Herbert (Stephanie) Merkley, and Corrinda (Michael) Shepherd; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wed., Nov. 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. 31, Holley, where her funeral service will be held on Thu., Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in North Byron Cemetery.
