Nylene T. Reitz
GREECE – Nylene passed away August 19, 2024, at age 88. She cherished every moment she could spend with her 5 daughters and their families.
Nylene was born in Ashland, Kansas to Harley and Alberta (nee Hiner) Thomas. She grew up in a farming family in Wichita, Coldwater, and Protection, Kansas. In Wichita, she met her beloved husband, Don (of 56 years). Don and Nylene relocated to Buffalo soon after they married and started their family. Throughout her life, she and her family lived in various NY locations, including Rochester, Hilton, Syracuse, and Pendleton.
Over the years, she was a homemaker, civil servant, real estate agent, and eventually retired from the IRS. She loved gardening, traveling, spending time with family & friends, bird watching, and her numerous pets. After retirement, she enjoyed life in Kendall, NY where she was able to spend more time traveling and visiting with friends and family.
Nylene is predeceased by her husband, Don (2010), and her brother, Darrell (2023). She is survived by her children, Diane Savage (Dave), Tina Villnave (Tom), Dawn Bromley (Tad), Shari Sohn (Doug), and Tara Kolinsky (Scott); 11 grandchildren, Joshua Sohn (Kelley), Jake Savage (Yettie), Emilie Bromley (Alex), Ben Villnave, Erich Sohn (Claira), Katie Savage, Nora Bromley, Andrew Savage, Cameron Villnave, Anika Kolinsky (Cameron), Ivy Kolinsky, and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 12th, 4-7 PM at the Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 & Long Pond Rd.) . A mass of christian burial will be celebrated, Friday, September 13th, at 9:00 AM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 16789 Kenmore Rd., Kendall, NY. Private entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center Fund (https://rrhgive.org/giving) (specify Hildebrandt in the gift designation drop-down menu).
