Michael Scott Mitchell
ORLANDO, FL – Michael Scott (Mitch) Mitchell passed away July 22, 2025. Mike was born September 16, 1959, in Rochester, NY, a son of the late Rho & Beverly (Landon) Mitchell.
Mitch grew up in Albion, New York and graduated Albion Central High School in 1978. He was the kind of guy who made friends easily and had many close friends. Mitch was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing softball in multiple leagues as well as being an accomplished bowler and golfer.
He insisted on living life to the fullest. He was an enthusiastic assistant scoutmaster for Troop 149 and was a proud Eagle Scout. In the spring of 1980, Mitch relocated to Kissimmee Florida. Mitch made many friends in Florida and enjoyed a twenty-five-year career working at Disney World in Orlando.
Mitch kept busy after retiring from Disney rooting for the New York Yankees, and the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed NASCAR and vacationing pool side at resorts all around Florida. Though he loved living in the Sunshine State, he also loved reminiscing about growing up in the ’70s and often said those were the best times of his life.
Mitch is survived by his loving companion of 26 years, Susan Grogan, who was the love of his life; sister, Patty (Jane Hobson) Mitchell; brother, David B. (Brenda West) Mitchell; nephews, Joshua (Tristin) Mitchell, Brian (Cass Saint-Vil) Mitchell, and Eric Mitchell; great-nephew, Cooper Rho Mitchell; and numerous lifelong friends in NY and FL.
A celebration of Mitch’s life will be held in Florida and announced at a later date. Private interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
