Michael R. Boccaccio, 79, of Holley, died July 7, 2019 in Highland Hospital following a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 23, 1940 in Albion to Joseph and Dora (DeLaura) Boccaccio and lived in this area his entire life.

Michael was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Jewell Buckman Post, American Legion of Holley. He was a faithful attendee of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brockport, a member of the Holley Historical Society, and a member of the Holley Rod and Gun Club. Michael enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing and reading, and he was a former mayor of the Village of Holley. As a person who was very family-oriented, Michael was a very driven genealogist.

He is survived by his wife of almost 36 years, Sharon; his son, Bobby (Mary) Boccaccio of Waterport; daughter, Colleen (Andrew) Young of Bergen; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Orto Jr. of Florida; sister-in-law, Jean Orto of North Chili; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Michael’s Mass of Christian Burial on Thu., July 11 at 11 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 152 Main St., Brockport NY 14420, followed by burial with military honors in Creekside Cemetery, Churchville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
