Michael TrimmOn Mon., Jan. 27, 2020, Michael C. Trimm, of Kendall, passed peacefully, yet way too soon, from this life at the age of 69. Mike was born to parents Richard and Georgette Trimm on Oct. 11, 1950 in Gouverneur, N.Y.

As a young man, he was an all-star athlete and sports enthusiast, especially when it came to baseball. He received an accounting degree from the Hartford Institute of Accounting in 1970 and worked 24 years for Eastman Kodak Company before medically retiring in 1992.

On Aug. 29, 1970, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Darla Ann Patterson. After a year in Connecticut, they moved to the Rochester area where, together, they set up their home in Kendall and lovingly raised two children, Tacha and Anthony, and their grandson, Cody.

Mike had a lifelong passion and love for the game of baseball. He enjoyed living life on the ballfield, strategizing in the dugout, or cheering (and keeping score) in the stands. He enthusiastically volunteered to coach and mentor various teams and players from tee-ball to American Legion baseball over three decades, affecting generations of aspiring ballplayers. In 2009, Mike received The Eileen Heye Adult Volunteer Recognition Award, which is presented to an adult who serves the youth of Orleans County in a volunteer setting. This award became his proudest achievement, just after that of raising his children and grandson.

He was well-known for his empathetic compassion, overwhelming generosity, nurturing soul, jovial spirit, and uncanny ability to make everything better with just his words. Also, his highly-requested but never-duplicated lasagna was second-to-none. However, above all else, he was best known for his unparalleled and unconditional love for his family.

Mike was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard in 1990 and Georgette (Rice) in 2002; sister, Lisa, in 1990; and granddaughter, Emily (Watson), in 1994.

He is survived by his loving and steadfast wife of 49 years, Darla; daughter, Tacha (John) Gennarino; son, Anthony (Lori) Trimm; grandsons, Cody (Shannon Baker) Trimm and Benjamin Trimm; great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Trimm; sister, Judy (Joseph) Popp; as well as a plethora of cousins, nieces and nephews who will all miss him deeply.

The family will receive friends and teammates on Sat., Feb. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. 31, Holley, where his funeral service will be held Sun., Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Coach Trimm Memorial Sports Scholarship (address to be announced); or to Kendall Fire Department, 1879 Kendall Road, Kendall NY 14476.
