Michael C. Hofbauer

Michael C. Hofbauer, 71, of Albion, died Jan. 8, 2020 at his home. He was born July 7, 1948 in Elmira, N.Y., a son of the late Clement and Eleanor (Baylor) Hofbauer, and he lived in this area for the past 40 years.

Michael was a salesman who owned his own car dealership for many years. He loved the outdoors, whether he was walking in the woods, pheasant hunting, or just sitting outside. He loved dogs and raised German shorthaired pointers but, most importantly, he loved being a dad and a papa; it was everything to him.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Bartt; and his brother, Denis Hofbauer.

He is survived by his loving companion, Diane Pope; his daughter, Katie (Brian) Applegate; grandchildren, Vivian, Brittany, Jacob, Jacqueline, Austin and Jaxx; great-grandson, Xander; stepdaughters, Deanna (Brad) and AnnaMaria (Bill); siblings, Nancy (Bob) Phillips, Phillip (Bonnie) Hofbauer and Marjorie (Dan) Pastalaniec; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. His funeral service will be held Sat., Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
