May Ella BythewoodMay Ella Bythewood, 76, of Kent, died May 28, 2020 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born Dec. 11, 1943 in Fairmont, N.C. to May Dennis and Rosie (Burns) Powell and lived in this area for over 56 years.

May Ella was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Kendall Mills, and a member of the Eastern Star Group. She loved to bake and cook, and she enjoyed feeding people. She also had a green thumb, and she loved her plants and gardening. May Ella was a very social person who would help anyone in need as she could.

Mrs. Bythewood was predeceased by her husband, Emory Bythewood.

She is survived by her significant other, Parra Martinez; brothers, Renard (Nancy) Powell of Brockport, David (Gloria) Powell of Florida, and Lynn (Ethel) Powell of North Carolina; sisters, Jane Moody of Kent, Mary Magalene Smith of North Carolina, and Alice Powell of Brockport; sister-in-law, Willie L. Cox of Florida; several nieces and nephews, who she treated as her children; as well as a host of other family and friends.

There will be no calling hours. Private service and interment in Mt. Albion Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
