Max D. Jones

Fireman's ShieldKENDALL – Max D. Jones, 86, died Dec. 16, 2020 in Unity Hospital following a long illness.  He was born Nov. 28, 1934 in Wellsboro, Pa. to I. Maxson and Eva (Heath) Jones and had lived in this area most of his life.

Max was a graduate of Hilton High School and was a Life Member, Past President, former Line Officer and ambulance driver of the Kendall Fire Department serving for over 52 years.  He was a trumpet player and one of the original members of the Crusaders Drum Corps in the Hilton/Rochester area.  Max also served as an Official with the Western New York Volunteer Fireman’s Association Tournament Drill Teams.  In his free time, he loved doing woodcrafts in his barn.  He will be remembered by many for his famous phrase, “Get in, sit down and, SHUT UP!”

Mr. Jones was predeceased by his sister, Miriam Lowden.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; his son, Doug (Vangie Behrend) Jones Sr. of Kendall; his daughter, Debra (David) Eibl of Lyndonville; his grandchildren: Doug Jr. (Adrianna), Justin (Jenni); his great-granddaughter, Isabelle; 1 niece, 1 nephew and his best buddy, “Pretty Girl”.

There will be no calling hours.  A Celebration of Life for Max will be announced at a later date by the family.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kendall Fire Department, 1879 Kendall Rd., Kendall, NY 14476.  Max’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. of Holley.
