Matthew J. “Matt” “Mongo” Spychalski

HOLLEY – Matthew John Spychalski, 60, passed away suddenly at his home April 7, 2022. Matt was born March 12, 1962, in Brockport, a son of Mary Ann (Janus) Spychalski and the late Kenneth John Spychalski.

“Mongo” was a graduate of Holley High School, class of 1980 and was a member of the Section 5, championship baseball team. After High School, Matt graduated from Alfred State College with his associates degree in Electrical Construction. He was an avid outdoor person, enjoying hunting, fishing, and anything outside. He was a member of the Holley Rod & Gun Club, N.W.T.F, Ducks Unlimited and the N.R.A.

Matt will be remembered for his awesome Air Guitar abilities, famous quotes, and his good nature. “Don’t be a-scared, be a-brave.”

He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth John Spychalski and sister, Peggy Bradshaw.

Matt is survived by his children, Jenny Spychalski (Benjamin Wildschutz), Rachael Spychalski (Kris Kruszka), Andrew Spychalski (Ashley Viau) and Corrine Spychalski; his mother, Mary Ann Spychalski; brother, Mark (Robin) Spychalski and sister, Mary (Albert) Moss; brother-in-law, Lonnie Bradshaw; mother of his children, Patty Spychalski; several extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Matt’s Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 9 S. Main St. Holley on Tuesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. followed by interment in Mt. Albion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
