Mary T. Chaffee

Mary T. Chaffee, 88, passed away peacefully in the care of Hospice and family on April 5, 2022. Born Dec. 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Mathias and Mildred (Fetter) Portasica. 

Mary grew up and attended school in Lockport where is graduated in the class of 1952. She was employed at Fisher-Price Toys, Medina until her retirement in 1995. 

Mary loved gardening and entertaining at the lake. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was especially fond of her two great-great-granddaughters, Paisleigh and Scarlett, who could always make her smile. She was also proud of her newest great-great-grandson, little Stetson.

She is survived by her children” Eugene (Stephanie) Chaffee of Riverview, Fla., Cathleen (Mark) Grimm of Medina, Terry (Tammy) Chaffee of Lyndonville, Bryan (Jeanie) Chaffee of Kinards, SC; brother, Donald Portasica of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters: Dolores Kepston of Hamburg, Loretta (Dave) Kuhn of Idaho, Mickey (Herbert) Cook of Spring Valley, Calif.; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is predeceased in death by her daughter, Nancy Thompson, and lifelong companion, Robert Varley.

There will be no prior visiting hours. A private service will be held by her family at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Mary’s name to Hospice of Niagara County.
