Mary Jo Carpenter

ANGOLA – Mary Jo Carpenter, 72, entered into God’s eternal care on July 13, 2022.  She was born on May 3, 1950 in Sheffield, Alabama, to the late James and Esther Logsdon.

Mary Jo spent most of her life in Holley, NY. She attended Holley High School where she met the love of her life, Dennis. She attended SUNY Brockport where she earned a degree in accounting. She worked for 20 years at Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Brockport. She and Dennis moved to Angola in 2007 to live near their children. Mary Jo loved spending time with her family, attending Logsdon family holiday gatherings, and watching her grandson grow up.

Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dennis Carpenter; her children, Dennis M. (Shari Strom) Carpenter and Stacey (Nicholas) Capitummino; grandchildren, Nicholas James Capitummino and Heidi Marie Lagona.

She is cherished by her siblings, James (Dana) Logsdon, Dr. Gregory (Vicki) Logsdon, Mark (Paul Willink) Logsdon, Kevin (Lisa) Logsdon, Dr. Karen (Mike Capan) Logsdon, Loretta (Bill) Andris and Peter (Roberta) Logsdon; sisters-in-law, Mary West-Logsdon and Karen (Duane) Goodridge; brothers-in-law, Brian (Jeannie) Carpenter and Duane Carpenter; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mary Jo was predeceased by her parents and her brother, David Logsdon.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Rte. 31 Holley, on Friday July 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s R.C. Church Holley. Interment will follow Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 11 South Main St., Holley NY 14470 or the Butterfly Conservation, 565 Niagara Pkwy, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0, Canada.
