Mary A. Scarlett

LYNDONVILLE- Mary A. Scarlett, (Mondo) of Lyndonville, NY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Mary was born on June 22, 1926 in Batavia, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Monacelli) Mondo. Mary was predeceased by her husband Warren in 2007 after 58 years of marriage.

Mary was employed with the H.J. Heinz Company after high school as a private secretary. Mary and Warren married in 1949 and resided in Millville, NY before retiring and then moved to Lantana, FL. In 2002, they returned to NY to live in Lyndonville and be closer to family.

They enjoyed traveling together to many different countries and were accomplished Square Dancers that traveled to various states for Square Dancing events.

Also after retiring, Mary volunteered at the Medina Memorial Hospital and enjoyed helping out at all of the church functions including folding news bulletins and counting donations after Sunday services. She was active in the United Methodist Church in Millville, NY and the United Methodist Church in Florida and in Lyndonville.

Mary was “Aunt Mary” to everyone who knew her, they loved her like an Aunt and she loved them as well. She always enjoyed her many nieces and nephews and was ready to join in and make memories with them. Mary was able to enjoy her stay at home with her beloved aides for 5 years and her family is forever grateful.

Predeceased by her husband Warren Scarlett, brothers Russell (late Rita) Mondo and Caesar Mondo and brother-in-law John Poler.

She is survived by her sister, Teresa (late John) Poler, sister-in-law Harriet (late Caesar) Mondo, cousins, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives may attend call on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 from 11 AM-1 PM at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, 102 N Main St, Lyndonville, NY 14098, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s name to Hospice of Orleans,  14080 NY-31, Albion, NY 14411.
