Marie Toote

Marie Toote, 84, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2019. She was born in Hillsboro, Miss. but was a longtime resident of Holley.

Marie was employed at Owens-Illinois in Brockport, Arnold Gregory Hospital in Albion, and SUNY College at Brockport, which was her final job before retiring. After retiring, Marie enjoyed spending her time at the Eastern Orleans Community Center in Holley, sitting around and socializing with everyone.

Marie enjoyed being outside in her earlier years, working in her garden and planting flowers. She was known for always cooking for anyone who came over and entertaining guests.

She is predeceased by her parents, Eva and Ollie Hughes; her brothers, Alvin (Bobby Joe) Hughes, Albert Hughes and Mildred Thomas; and a son, Danny Stanberry.

She is survived by her children, Diann (Henry) Rodgers, Elaine McKenzie, Stanley (Elizabeth) Toote, Kevin (Leslie) Toote, Terry Toote, Frances (Larry) Roberts and Spencer Toote; her nieces and nephews; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Plano, Texas on Sat., Jan. 11 for an 11 a.m. service. There will be a memorial service in New York at a later date. Interment will be private.
