Marcia Botsford

Marcia P. Botsford, of Fort Myers, Fla. and Canandaigua, N.Y., entered into rest on Sat., June 27, 2020.

Born July 8, 1928 in Medina, Marcia was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Laurita (Miles) Payjack. She graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1946. Marcia left Medina with her twin sister, Maxine, and experienced life in Boston, attending Simmons College. She often shared her father’s philosophy on education, “You educate a boy and you educate a man. You educate a girl and you educate a family,” which she certainly did. While in Boston, she learned to love the Boston Red Sox, especially their left fielder, Ted Williams. She was even known to skip a class (or have Maxine replace her) so that she could enjoy an afternoon game or two. Before returning to Medina, she also lived in New Jersey. Marcia married Jack L. Botsford on April 11, 1955. She worked as a substitute teacher for Medina Central School District. She was a Twig volunteer at Medina Memorial Hospital, and also at Lee-Whedon Memorial Library. Marcia also volunteered for 30 years at Sonnenberg Gardens in Canandaigua. An avid knitter, she enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings, sweaters, gloves and booties for her family. She loved spending time at the family cottage on Lake Ontario and Canandaigua Lake. Marcia enjoyed walking and shelling on Fort Myers Beach, where she enjoyed watching many beautiful sunsets with her family and friends.

Marcia is survived by three children, Mark (Roxane) Botsford of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Brenda (Michael) Sidari of Medina and Tom (Lisa) Botsford of Suamico, Wis.; daughter in-law, Nora Botsford of Simi Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Danielle (Jason) Grilli, Christopher (Morgan) Botsford, Brett (Katlin) Botsford, Brooke (James Persinger) Botsford, Ryan Botsford, Chad Botsford, Joseph (Michelle) Sidari, Megan (Jason Joseph) Sidari, Tess Botsford, Hannah Botsford and Chloe Botsford; great-grandchildren, Jayse Grilli, Jayden Grilli, Cash Botsford, Banks Botsford and Micah Sidari; sisters, Bonnie (Charles) Hartway and Jo (late John Thomas) Forrestel; brothers and sisters in-law, Grace (Marshall) Watts, Linda (late Douglas) Botsford and Lee (late Gerald) Botsford; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Botsford, in 2012; son, Patrick Botsford, in 2010; and twin sister, Maxine (Sid) Johnston, in 2014.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thu., July 2 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
