Lucille Buckner

Lucille E. (Erway) Buckner, 88, of Albion, passed away Aug. 19, 2020 in Kenasville, N.C. She was born Aug. 3, 1932 in Albion to Ethan and Mildred Erway.

Lucy and Lyell built their home on Kenyonville Road in Albion, where they raised their three children. She picked apples in the fall, made beautiful quilts, and always had time to spend with her family. She loved to go camping with the whole family. She always found time to bake pies and cookies for the Eagle Harbor Church Rummage Sale. Lucy worked for a while at the Lake Country Pennysaver. Her brother, David, says that Lucy made the best pecan pie around.

Lucy was predeceased by her father and mother, Ethan and Mildred; her husband, Lyell; two sons, Steven and Bruce; a grandson, James Lake; a granddaughter, Adora Torres; and a brother, Gerald.

She is survived by her daughter, Gale Buckner; granddaughters, Denise Sullivan, Gloria (Christopher) and Amanda Buckner; grandsons, Charles, Andrew (Sara), Adam (Holley) Lake, and Nicholas Buckner; three brothers, Ray (Betty), Donald (Glenda) and David (Pat); a sister, Shirley Tower; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many very good friends.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Lucy was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.
