Loretta VanderWoude

Loretta S. VanderWoude, 81, of Medina, entered into rest on Tue., Feb. 5, 2019 at United Memorial Hospital, Batavia, with her loving daughters at her side.

Born on Feb. 3, 1938 in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Everett and Gertrude (Williams) Kumro.

Loretta grew up in Buffalo, where she met and married the late John Henry VanderWoude, and together they moved to the Medina/Millville area and raised four daughters. She worked at the former Fisher-Price in Medina from its opening until its closing. She was a member of Millville United Methodist Church and was a former 4-H leader. In her younger years, Loretta enjoyed traveling; she also enjoyed dancing, shopping, and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loretta is survived by her children, Richard (Ana) VanderWoude of Texas, Kim (Steven Jerles) Dunaway of LeRoy, Susan Gafford of Virginia, Karen (Stephen Dunn) Johnson of Lyndonville, and Sharon (Pat) Cocozziello of Florida; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald (Dolores) Kumro of Lancaster, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Sat., Feb. 9 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina NY 14103, where a memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with the Rev. Marilyn Kafperek officiating. Burial will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Loretta’s name to Hospice of Orleans County, P.O.Box 489, Albion NY 14411.
