Lawrence Nelson

ALBION – Lawrence “Baby Papa” Nelson, 85, died November 6, 2021 in Rochester General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 19, 1936 in Bleachton, FL and had lived in this area since the 1950s.

Larry was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the AmVets and the American Legion. He attended Albion Free Methodist Church and formerly the Royal Church of God in Christ. Larry loved to fish, was a Jack-of-all-Trades, had a great sense of humor and would talk to anybody about anything. He was a true family man and loved being a grandpa and doing things with his grandchildren.

Mr. Nelson was predeceased by a sister.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Juanita; 8 sons, 2 daughters, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, several grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Avenue-Albion, where his funeral service will be held at noon following visitation. Interment with Military Honors will be held at a later date in WNY National Cemetery.
