Larie G. Vagg

American flagALBION – Larie G. Vagg, 88, passed away January 6, 2022 following a long illness. Larie was born January 15, 1933 in Barre Center, a son of the late Wilbur and Eleanor (Sibley) Vagg.

Larie served in the United States Air Force for 40 years, serving in Korea and Vietnam, retiring January 15, 1993 with the rank of Senior Master Sargent. He was an avid car collector and was a member of numerous Auto Clubs. Larie was a well known Master Carpenter in the area and always had a smile and willing to tell a story or joke. He was a charter member of the Barre Fire Co. and a long-time member of the Albion Odd Fellows Lodge.

Larie was predeceased by his son, Gregory and sister, Delores Lowman.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Raymond) Emerson and James (Lorri) Vagg; grandchildren, Robert (Aleena) and Steven Emerson, Nicolas (Brooke), Gabrielle and Erica Vagg; great-grandchildren, Cameron,  Arabella, Greyson and Lindsay; longtime loving companion, Rita M. Dumont; sister, Donna (James) Sullivan and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 21 W. Avenue on Monday Jan. 10, from 3 to 7 p.m. Larie’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Interment with military honors at Mt. Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Orleans County Joint Veterans Council, 13996 Route 31 West, Albion, NY 14411.
