Kathleen “Kathy” Mooney

Kathleen “Kathy” Mooney passed away at home surrounded by her husband, Patrick “Pat” and dog. P.J. on Feb. 22, 2021. She was born July 3, 1951 to Richard and Marylou Ruppel  of Lockport, NY.  She attended Royalton Hartland Central School and graduated in 1969. Kathy also attended St. James School of Nursing and graduated in 1972.

In her younger years, Kathy was a an avid 4-H member and also enjoyed riding and competing her horses. She started her career at Medina Memorial Hospital as a nurse and later worked for Dr. Harvey Blanchett. She eventually retired from nursing after many years of service caring for the residents of Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Kathy enjoyed camping with her family and friends. She was also talented in needle point and crocheting. Christmas was Kathy’s favorite time of year. She was truly a kid at heart.  She was a favorite aunt to both her nieces and nephews two legged and four legged. Kathy will always be remembered for her great love of animals and her generosity. She opened her heart to many animals and took a particular liking to maltese dogs.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Marylou Ruppel and by her brother Stephen Ruppel.  She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Patrick; her brother Rick (Debbie) Ruppel; and sister Linda (John) Lakatosh. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephew and her beloved dog P.J.

Private services and interment will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations in honor of Kathy, be made to any animal organization of your choice.
