Karen J. Ander

LOCKPORT – Karen J. Ander, 76, of Lockport, NY, formerly of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at the Orchard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Medina.

She attended Lockport High School and was employed by the former Fisher-Price, retiring as a Social Worker with the Orleans County Department of Social Services in 2013. Karen was a member of the Freedom Church of Lockport and enjoyed reading and caring for her cats. She had a love for the winter season and would get excited if she had to shovel.

She is survived by her husband, James; two daughters, Stacy (Don Dubois) Newell of Medina, NY, and Stephanie Newell of Lockport, NY; four grandchildren, Amber, Derrek, Brittney, and Brennen; and four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Pauline Hiam of Lockport, NY, and several nieces and nephews.

Karen is predeceased by her former husband, William Newell, and by a brother, Ronald Hiam.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Thursday, June 19th, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Medina VFW, 216 E Center St, Medina, NY 14103.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Karen’s name to PAWS Animal Shelter, 3371 Gaines Basin Rd, Albion, NY 14411.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103.
