Judith E. Garrett, 68, of Albion, died March 31, 2019 in The Villages of Orleans following a long illness. She was born June 14, 1950 in the Town of Gaines to Winton and Nina (Hollenbeck) Hatch and was a lifetime resident of the area.

Judy and her family were charter members of Gaines Congregational Church. She loved her church and her church family and actively participated in all church activities, including singing in the choir. Judy also enjoyed bowling, traveling, going for car rides, quilting, crossword puzzles, making jewelry and, especially, cooking. She also enjoyed playing “Farmville” on Facebook. Her greatest joy came when she was able to cook with her grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren was her passion in life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garrett was predeceased by her sister, Alice Irvine; and brothers, Robert and Terry Hatch.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Donald Garrett Sr.; her children, Sheila Blair of Gaines, Fay (Gretchen) Smith of Maryland, Matthew (Tina) Smith of Indiana, Don Garrett Jr. of Florida, Tabatha (Daniel) Smith of Albion, Joseph Garrett of Albion, and Rebecca (Joe) Bradt of Oakfield; her brother, Dan (Lin) Hatch of Bloomfield; sister-in-law, Laurie Hatch; brother-in-law, George Irvine; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, on Sat., April 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. only. Family and friends are invited to gather at Gaines Congregational Church, 14023 Ridge Road, Albion, on Sat., April 6 at 5 p.m. for Judy’s memorial service. Interment in Waterport Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
