Joyce Chappius

ALBION – Joyce Chappius, age 93, passed away June 6, 2025. Joyce was born October 28, 1931 in Plattsburgh, a daughter of the late Frederick Dealy and Sheila Holman.

Joyce was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Ladies of Charity. Joyce enjoyed dressing up for parties, going out to lunch with the Busy Buddies and bird watching. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.

Predeceased by her husband, Paul Chappius Sr.; brothers, Frederick Dealy Jr. and Milford Dealy; and sisters, Mildred Holman and Marlane Banker.

Joyce is survived by her children, Donna (Brian) Carpenter, Barbara (Michael) Papili, Douglas (Sandra) Chappius, Carol Ettinger, Paul (Francesca) Chappius Jr. and Joseph (Tammie) Chappius; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Pam) Lindley and Martin (Denise) Holman; sister, Joan Bruce; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes 21 W. Avenue, Albion, on Tuesday, June 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. Joyce’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church, 106 S. Main St. Albion, on Wednesday, June 11, at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, 106 S. Main St., Albion, NY 14411
