Joseph NieboerAmerican flagJoseph A. Nieboer Sr., 70, of Albion, went to be with The Lord on Wed., Sept. 18, 2019 at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on Oct. 13, 1948 in Erie, Pa., a son of the late Joe and Evelyn (Hassink) Nieboer.

Joseph graduated from Greece Olympia High School in 1966. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Upon returning home, he married the former Nancy McDermott (deceased), and together they raised three sons, a daughter, and countless foster children.

He married the former Mercy Gasad in 2006, and together they served as missionaries in the Philippines for six years. Joseph was a machine setup for General Motors for 30-plus years. Joseph lived his life to serve God, his family, and almost everyone with whom he came into contact. He was a loving husband, a selfless father, and a faithful friend.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 13 years, Mercy Nieboer; sons, Daniel (Katelyn) Nieboer of Euless, Texas; Joshua Nieboer of Owensboro, Ky. and Joseph (Nikki) Nieboer of Piqua, Ohio; daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Walker of Albion; grandchildren, Zharia, Mehkyron and Shakarion Drisdom, Mike, Makyell, Tra’marie, Tra’monie and Maiziair Walker, Price Montgomery, Tallyn, Maverick, Knox, Montgomery, Haevyn, Everleigh and Cordelia Nieboer, Naaman Nieboer; great-grandson, Jaz’mir Wilson; siblings, Miriam (Dick) Snedaker of Wildomar, Calif., Lois (Dale) Brooks of Lancaster, S.C., Rebecca (John) Clode of Binbrook, Ontario, Canada, Ruth Nieboer of Lansdale, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents and first wife, Joseph is predeceased by his older brothers, John, Daniel, David and James; and older sister, Joanne.

A memorial service will be held on Sun., Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. at Faith Alliance Church, 3305 Oak Orchard Road, Albion NY 14411. A graveside service will be held on Mon., Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. at West Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway, with the Pastor Greg Marsden officiating.
