John M. Nowak, 73, of Lyndonville, NY, died Fri., Sept. 17, 2021, at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born in 1948 in Silver Creek, NY, to Henry and Helen Nowak.

John graduated from SUNY Buffalo State College and taught Building Trades at Orleans-Niagara BOCES for 30 years. He was a hardworking man who typified love of “God, Family, Country.” His values were front and center at all times, and if you knew him, you got educated about his values – he meant every bit of it from his very core. Always an avid hunter and fisherman, John’s personality was larger than the great outdoors that he so dearly loved. He could entertain the smallest child with his silly stories and songs or could debate with the biggest man about world politics. Those who remain are better people for having known him.

Left to cherish his memory are: Jan, his wife of 37 years; children: Michael Nowak, Amy (Benjamin) Barry; Andrew (Ann) Bale; grandchildren: Bridget Barry (Dilon Cowell); Bryan Bale; Madison Bale; Jacob Barry (Abby MacNeal); Elizabeth Barry; Mason Bale; Carson Bale; great-granddaughter, Everlyn Bale; and sister, Lynette (Gregory) Arnold. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas Nowak and James Nowak.

The family will receive friends at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina, on Fri., Oct. 15, 2021, from 12-2 p.m., followed by his memorial service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel  Thurber officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to the Warrior House of WNY, 22 Mill St., Oakfield, NY 14125, www.warriorhouseofwny.com.
