John Jason Steffen

John Jason Steffen, 60, of Albion died unexpectedly June 6, 2021 at his home.  He was born Aug. 21, 1960 in Rochester, a son of Gerald E. and the late Raphael (Barbarito) Steffen and had lived in this area most of his life.

John enjoyed hot rods, old movies, listening to music and playing his guitar.  He was known as “Mr. Fix it” because he liked taking things apart and putting them back together.  He used to love working on cars with his dad, rebuilding engines.  John was a “gentle giant,” kind and generous and always helping others.

In addition to his mom, he was predeceased by his sisters: Julia Steffen and Lillian Hordendorf-Steffen. He is survived by his son, David (Natalie) Cate; granddaughter, Riley; father, Gerald E. Steffen; brother, Gerald F. (Rosemary) Steffen; sisters: Janice (Michael) Wright, Denise (David) Lawrence; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 17th, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, 106S. Main St. Albion NY 14411. Memorials may be made to Orleans County Mental Health, 14014 State Route 31, Albion, NY 14411.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. Albion.
