John PersiaJohn A. Persia, 65, of Albion, died unexpectedly June 22, 2019 at Medina Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1953 in Brockport, a son of the late Julius and Hortense (Monacelli) Persia, and he lived in this area all of his life.

John worked at Kodak as a machinist, retiring in 2016. For many years, he coached Little League baseball and girls’ softball. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, but the greatest enjoyment in his life was his family, especially being “papa” to his grandkids.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Donna; brother, Gary; niece, Amy Hughson Banks; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Lucille Hughson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, June; beloved daughters, Lisa (Chris) Barry and Michele (Allen Ainsworth) Persia, both of Albion; grandchildren, Zach, Aubrielle, Kolton, Nevada and Allen Jr.; brothers-in-law, Chuck (Gwen) Hughson and Larry (Marlene) Hughson; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, on Thu., June 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Fri., June 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
