Joanne E. Whitney

LYNDONVILLE – Joanne E. Whitney, 88, departed this life on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. Born on April 28, 1934, in Medina, she was the daughter of the late Dallas and E. Loraine (Moore) Whitney.

She grew up in Lyndonville and lived there all her life. She graduated from Lyndonville High School in 1951 and worked in the family business, the “Coffee Shop” in Lyndonville for 17 years. She then worked for the New York State Unified Court System in Albion from 1970 to 1993, retiring as Orleans County Court Clerk.

Joanne was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lyndonville, a former member of the Lyndonville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was at one time active in the Yates Historical Society. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting and gardening.

Joanne is survived by four nieces, Stephanie (J.J.) Marotta of Gasport, Maria (Danny) Tyson of Gasport, Donna (Dale) Faulkner of Kendall, and Linda (Daniel) Bernard of Gasport; eight great-nieces and nephews; 14 great-great nieces and nephews and a close friend, Carol Lonnen.

Besides her parents, Joanne is predeceased by a brother, Donald Whitney.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church, 107 N. Main St. Lyndonville NY 14098 with the Pastor Martha Mitchell officiating.
