Joan E. Ross

HOLLEY – Joan E. Ross, 80, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on December 12, 2020. Joan was born October 31, 1940 in Corning, NY to the late Joseph and Esther (Brockway) Vanzile.

Joan had quite the collection of salt and pepper shakers and was very proud of it. She also enjoyed bird watching and her cat. She loved spending time with her family and having cookouts or family parties was her favorite thing to plan.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Sr. in 2015; son, Marvin Jr. in 2006; and siblings, John, Tom, Lola and Carol.

Joan is survived by her children, Beth (J.D.) Meland, John (Debbie) Ross, Mark (Linda) Ross, Robin (Mark) Mallett, Karen Stewart and Jeffery (Renee) Ross; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; brother, Ronald (Ceil) Vanzile; sister, Audrey (Arlen) Wagner; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There are no prior calling hours. Joan’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31, Holley, NY 14470 on Friday, December 18th at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Holley.

Please note the Funeral Home will be operating at 33% capacity per state guidelines. New York State requires those in attendance to adhere to the social distancing guidelines and face coverings are mandatory.
