Jean B. Batt

WATERPORT – Jean B. Batt, 87, of Waterport, joined her husband and her daughter in heaven on November 4, 2022 while in the Martin Linsin Residence following a brief illness.

Jean was born November 27, 1934 to the late Arthur and Mary (Spaulding) Barry.  She married the love of her life, Bob, on September 8, 1956 and as a licensed insurance agent, worked side by side with her husband in their insurance agency for 35 years until their retirement in 2001.

Jean was a past member of the Albion Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Albion Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the WNYVFA Ladies Auxiliary. Prior to getting married, Jean worked as a nurse’s aide at Arnold Gregory Hospital, and had been a long-time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Medina.

Jean loved the Christmas season and would decorate her house with all the appropriate decorations leaving people in awe of the glistening wonder she created. She also enjoyed going to garage sales year-round. Most of all, Jean was a huge family person and the love she had for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was second to none.

Mrs. Batt was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2001, daughter Carol Jean in 1977, twin sister Jeanette in 2012 and brother Michael in 2022.

She is survived by her son, Walter (Michele) Batt; daughter, Robin (David) Hughson; grandchildren, Robert (Jenifer) Batt, AAron (Lauren Wright) Batt, Matthew (Anna Zastawrny) Hughson and Meghan (Scott ) Hughson-Roberts; great grandchildren, Gracie, Kensley, Aviannah, Heidi, Parker and Ettaleigh; sister, Karen (Stanley) Dudek; brother, John (Marilyn) Barry and many, many nieces and nephews.

At Jean’s request, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue-Albion, on Wednesday at 1:30 pm followed by interment in Mt. Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carlton Fire Company, 14341 Waterport-Carlton Rd., Albion, NY, 14411 or Supportive Care of Orleans, 14080 NY-31, Albion, NY, 14411.
