Jane Marie Volz-Newsome, of Albion, NY, passed away on May 31, 2021 after being diagnosed with cancer in March.  She spent her final weeks in the home of her daughters, Amy & Brittenye and her final days there in the loving presence of all of her children and her husband.

Mrs. Newsome was born May 7, 1950 in Manhattan and adopted at age 5 by Joseph and Aurelia (Vindish) Volz of Mahopac, NY.

She gladly spent her life in the service of others.  Jane worked for 27 years in various roles with the Rochester City School District while also working 20+ years as a Direct Support Professional with Lifetime Assistance where she had a significant impact in the lives of adult residents in need.

Mrs. Newsome was a member in good standing of the Royal Church of God in Christ (Kent, NY) for many years and developed a long list of friends during her journey in service to God.  She was an usher and later appointed a member of the Mothers Board.

Jane enjoyed spending time in her garden, hours outdoors on their rural property, coffee at the kitchen table in her home with visitors and as much time as possible with her children, grands and great-grands.  She also loved dogs and welcomed many to the family over the years.  Jane was kind, incredibly generous with her time and she influenced the lives of everyone who knew her.  Those closest to her will miss the check-in phone calls that opened with “How you doing, Babe?”.   Jane was selfless and will be remembered as such.

She is survived and sorely grieved by her love and husband of 53 years, Billy L. Newsome of Albion (formerly of Rochester); their seven children: Shahon Dawson of Brockport, Billy (Virginia) Newsome of Las Vegas, Brittenye Newsome of Buffalo, Eric (Sonya) Newsome of Rochester, Sara (Derrick) Volz-Rogers of Rochester, Amy Newsome of Buffalo and LeAaron Newsome of Rochester; step sons: Tyrone (Jacqueline) Newsome and La Trell Newsome both of Dallas, TX, 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and her best friend of many years Tamera Tiberio-Jones.

A memorial service is scheduled June 26 at Oak Orchard Assembly of God located at 12111 Ridge Road West, Medina, NY, 14103.  Services will begin at 11:30 a.m.  A post-memorial gathering will be held at Orleans County Marine Park at Point Breeze located at 1110 Point Breeze Rd, Kent, NY 14477.
