Jane L. Pahuta

Jane L. Pahuta, 76, died February 10, 2021 at her residence following a long illness. She was born June 9, 1944 in Harrisburg, PA to James and Grace (Jewell) Engle and had lived in this area most of her life.

Jane was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church, now Holy Family Parish. Following her high school graduation, she went to cosmetology school and was a hairdresser for many years. She also worked for the NYS DOT Canal System, retiring in 1999. Jane was an avid supporter of many charity organizations, especially those having to do with animals or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She enjoyed going to the casino, traveling to Camp Graceland in the mountains, and going to watch her grandchildren race motorcycles. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart.

Mrs. Pahuta was predeceased by brothers, John “Jack” Engle, Lloyd “Bud” Engle, Howard Engle, Robert “Bob” Engle, William “Bill” Engle and Richard “Dick” Engle; sisters, Marion Phillips, Grace Monacelli and Ruth O’Hearn; great-granddaughter, Baylee Jane McClary; and very good friend, David Pahuta, Sr.

She is survived by her son, David Pahuta Jr. of Waterport; daughter, Tammy (David) Wells of Albion; brothers, Walter (Linda) Engle and Donald (Linda) Engle, both of Elba; grandchildren, Jessica (Steven) McClary, Devon (Tiffany) Pahuta, Ryan (Carly Fox) Wells and Timothy (Allison Howard) Wells; a great-granddaughter, Isabell Pahuta; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Geiger and Shirley Pahuta; and several nieces and nephews as well as her beloved dog, Sadie, and her cat, Maggie.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. where her funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. To view the livestream of her service, please watch the video below her obituary on the website. NYS requires those in attendance to adhere to social distancing guidelines and face coverings are mandatory. Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
