James W. Nicholson

MEDINA – James W. “Jim” Nicholson, age 86, of Medina, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his home, with his loving family at his side.

Born on March 25, 1940, in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late John J. and Isabelle (Golden) Nicholson.

Jim graduated from Lockport High School in 1958, married his late first wife that same year, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He returned home on June 24, 1961, with the rank of Lance Corporal. He was employed by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department and, in 1974, married the former Virginia Whittleton; together, they raised five children. Later, Jim was employed as Head Custodian at Medina High School until his retirement in 1998.

In his spare time, Jim was an avid woodworker and scroll-saw artist and was a member of the WNY Scrollers Association.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ginny Nicholson; his children, John W. Nicholson, Ronald A. (Amanda) Nicholson, Kevin P. (Rhonda) Nicholson, Rhonda (Matthew) Tuttle, and Shawn P. (Jennifer) Nicholson. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Thomas (Maxine) Nicholson, along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and first wife, Jim was predeceased by two children, Michelle and Donnie Nicholson.
