LYNDONVILLE – James Mark Taylor, age 76, of Lyndonville, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, surrounded by his dearest loved ones.

Known as Jim or JT, he pursued his lifelong passion for fishing as a USCG licensed charter captain and was the owner of Hawg Master Fishing Charters. He spent many hours fishing the Niagara River and Lake Ontario and fly fishing in Alaska and Montana.

Jim spent endless hours tending his flower gardens and he was particularly proud of his lilies and gladiolus. His gardens were a haven for butterflies and birds and he enjoyed caring for hummingbirds, bluebirds, finches, orioles and watching the acrobatics of his beloved purple martin colony.

Born on April 15, 1950, he was the son of the late Richard W. and Emily (Benk) Taylor.

Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Virginia (Ginny); daughter, Laura (Paul) Thomason; grandsons, Taylor Elia and Jacob Thomason; brother, Richard (Althea) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William B. Taylor. Jim was also a “cat dad” to many stray and abandoned cats.

Jim’s life will be fondly remembered by his family and his many, many friends, fishing buddies and customers.

At Jim’s request, there will be no prior visitation or traditional funeral services. His family will plan for a gathering to reminisce and share stories at a later date.
