James Joseph (JJ) Fry Sr.

American flagJames Joseph (JJ) Fry Sr., 49, of Hinesville, Ga., suddenly passed away on March 19,2021 in Greenville, Fla. while moving to his new home in Gautier, MS. James was born Feb. 23,1972, in Medina, NY. A son of Michael D Fry Sr and Marian A Fry. 

In 1990, James graduated from Medina High School and the Orleans/Niagara Career School for Machine Tool and Die, where he won first place in the VICA skills competition. November 1990 James entered the U.S. Marine Corps. and trained in Paris Island, SC. Following his training, James was stationed many places over his 20 years of service, including lwakuni ,Japan, North Carolin, Alaska, Yuma, Ariz., Hawaii, Twenty Nine Palms, Calif., and St Roberts, MO. from where he retired as Gunnery Sergeant E-7. James was also a recruiter for the U.S. Marine Corp out of Batavia, NY Armed Forces recruiting office from 1998-2001. After retirement James became a Private Military Contractor for a few years, where he was deployed to Afghanistan. James has an Associated degree and currently working towards in Bachelor degree in Engineering prior to his passing. 

James love spending time with his sons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry and barbecuing. He was very active in the American Legion in Hinesville, Ga., and always lending a helping hand to those who needed it. Every fall he enjoyed coming home to Medina, to hunt and meet up with all his friends. Through the years James made many military friends and friends from all over wherever he went. He touched so many hearts, and always had a story to tell.

James was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Alice Gurzenski; paternal grandparents, Duane and Clara Fry; and infant brother, Michael D Fry Jr. 

James is survived by his fiance, Vicki England-Ervin; sons: James J Fry Jr. and Michael D Fry whom are serving in the U.S. Navy; their mother, Alejandra Mendoza Rankin; his parents: Michael D Fry (Anne Waller) and Marian A Fry (Stephen Seitz Sr); siblings: Christina Moule (Anthony Sr) and Lisa Avila (Jose Sr.); as well as his niece and nephews: McKayla Moule, Anthony Moule Jr., Jose Avila Jr, Ashley (Justin) Schichler, Maria and Joshua Avila; aunts and uncles: James Gurzenski (lynda), Karen (Douglas Dunn) Cheryl Olsen (Eric) and Rhonda Wasnock (John); several cousins; two special military friends: James (Mary Ann) Abrahamson and James (Lisa) Bensley. 

A private viewing was held for James at the Abbey Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Fla. A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date in the convenience of the family.
