James “J.C.” Hobbs

American flagJames “J.C.” Hobbs, 73, of Medina, passed away peacefully at his home on Sat., Oct. 24, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Born February 3, 1947 in Medina, J.C. was a twin son of the late John B. and Miriam P. (Williams) Hobbs. He was a graduate of Medina High School, class of 1965. He served as an MP in the United States Army, serving from 1968-70. He was a former Trustee on the Village of Medina Board of Trustees and also served on the Village of Medina Planning Board. J.C. had a passion for baseball. Having played most of his life, he built a wealth of knowledge about the game, which he loved to share. He loved Doo-Wop music, was a terrific dancer and always a classic gentleman. An animal lover, J.C. compassionately took in many strays over the years at his home. Whether it was a discussion over baseball, current events or his various theories on life, J.C. will always be remembered as a spirited conversationalist.

Survivors include his beloved children: Marty J. Hobbs, Jillian C. Hobbs and Andrew J. Hobbs; cherished granddaughter, Mia “Keturah” Hobbs; his twin brother, John “Jack” Hobbs; sisters: Lois A. (Thomas) Kenyon and Kathleen “Susie” (Roger) Sears; nieces and nephews: Denise, Darcy, Michael, Amy and John; and many friends.

Per J.C.’s wishes there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Orleans, P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411, who were of great help in his final months. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
