Irving W. Banker

American flagALBION – Irving W. Banker, 89, died Nov. 18, 2020 in the New York State Veterans Home at Batavia following a long illness.  He was born May 1, 1931 in the Town of Carlton, a son of William and Ruth (Johnson) Banker and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Irv was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, and had worked at Eddy/Remley Printing; as well as at St. Joseph’s Church and Cemetery.  He enjoyed carpentry and spent many hours remodeling his home.  Irv also was a very friendly and social person with a gentle demeanor.  As a person who loved being outdoors, you could find him outside in any type of weather.

Mr. Banker was predeceased by his wife Velma; his son Michael; and his siblings: Phyllis, Lillian, Louise, and Eunice.

He is survived by his daughters: Yvonne (Ricky) O’Kussick of Kent, Denise (Edward) Beebe of Rochester, Nancy (Douglas) Sucy of Churchville, his brother: Roger Banker of Tenn., his sisters: Hope (Bob) Stirk of Holley, Grace (Wayne) Meiser of Fla.; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., Wed., Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. where his funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. following visitation.  Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gaines Carlton Community Church, P.O. Box 431, Albion, NY 14411; the NY State Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Ave., Batavia, NY 14020; or the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620.
