Howard ThorneAmerican flagHoward R. Thorne, 74, of Clarendon, passed away May 1, 2020 at The Villages of Orleans. He was born Aug. 2, 1945 in Rochester, a son of the late Lester and Elsie Thorne.

Howard served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member and past Chief of the Clarendon Fire Company, and he drove school buses for the Brockport school system after retiring from Eastman Kodak Company. Howard attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hamlin. He loved fishing, camping, and visiting Virginia Beach and Goose Creek, S.C.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret; children, Glenn (Lori) Thorne of Clarendon, Kelly (Chris) Warner of Pennsylvania, Charlie Thorne of Arizona, and Patty Thorne of Avon; grandchildren, Maya and Cody Thorne; brothers, Hugh and Bobby; sisters, Ginny, Joanie and Penny; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Colin and Fran; and a sister, Connie.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Hillside Cemetery.
