Howard L. Pierce, 76, of Lyndonville, died Wed., June 10, 2020 at home, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Honoring his wishes, there were no calling hours.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sun., Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at County Line Country Church, 1385 County Line Road, Barker NY 14012. A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Howard was born July 9, 1943 in Penn Yan, N.Y., the son of Robert L. and Gertrude Chaffee Pierce. Previously of Dundee, N.Y., he relocated to Lyndonville. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1961 and went on to earn an AS in forestry from NYS Ranger School in 1963. After that, he joined the United States Air Force and served at Wright Patterson AFB until 1968. He became a lifelong trucker before retiring from YRC Inc. in 2011. He was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed going to several NASCAR tracks throughout his life. Upon retirement, he went back to his roots, working at Atwater Farms, where he was able to enjoy his love of farming and trucking. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of Dundee American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post #660, and a member of County Line Country Church.

He is survived by and will be missed by his fiancée, Rebecca Winters at home; his daughter, Machelle Kelly of Dundee; a stepson, Casey (Leah) Brown of Detroit, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Inge Pierce of Englewood, Ohio; two granddaughters, Ashley Kelly of Nashville, Tenn. and Alyssa Kelly of Dundee; a nephew, Christopher Pierce of Tipp City, Ohio; a niece, Tanya (Eddy) Flourney Jr. of Navarre, Fla.; and a grandnephew and grandniece, Andrew and Taryn Flourney.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene Pierce, in 2008; a daughter, Stephanie L. Pierce, in 1986; a brother, R. Allen Pierce, in 2003; and his parents, Robert in 2011 and Gertrude in 2007.
