Horace E. ‘Butch’ Patten III

ALBION – Horace E. “Butch” Patten III, 75, died September 23, 2022 at his residence following a long illness. He was born April 15, 1947 in Batavia, NY to Horace Jr. and Alice (Petty) Patten and had lived in this area for over 20 years.

Butch was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Holley American Legion and Holley VFW and volunteered for the Orleans County Veteran Transport Service. He was also a member of the Holley Fire Department Fire Police, and enjoyed sewing, collecting anything of any sort, and socializing with his friends every morning at Subway. He was former co-owner of B&D This and That store in Albion. Butch was known as a straight shooter however, he would help anyone with anything if they were in need.

Mr. Patten was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Russell, as well as the women who raised him from a toddler, Jenny J. Patten.

He is survived by his brothers, Scott (Mary) Patten of Waterport, Elbert (June) Patten of NC, and Steve (Maria) Patten of Albion; his sister, Cindy (Paul) Lawrence of NC; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Jeffrey (Rachel) Patten.

There will be no calling hours and a private graveside service will be held in the WNY National Cemetery in Corfu at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity or organization of your choice.
