Henrietta Shay

Henrietta Shay, 76 of Albion, NY, passed away peacefully on Sat., Oct. 10, 2020 at her home with her loving family at her side. Born on Aug. 26, 1944 in New Hanover, NC, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mamia (Crawford) Coleman.

She grew in Delco, NC on the family farm and later moved to NY. She was employed as a Locksmith with Eastman Kodak and that is where she met and married William Shay. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Holley. Henrietta had a love of the outdoors; she especially enjoyed working in her gardens and spending time at her “golden ponds” where she hosted many parties.

Henrietta is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years, William Shay; a sister, Connie Faraone of Medina, NY, a brother, Larry Colemen of Livonia, NY; a son, Johnny (Kimberly) Bordeaux of Kent, NY; two step-sons, Bill (Sandy) Shay and Mark (Phyllis) Shay, all of Holley, NY; a son-in-law, Larry Burton of Canaseraga, NY. Also survived are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her two furry companions, Peanut and Deliah. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by a brother, Gerald Wayne Coleman; a daughter-in-law, Suzie Burton; and a nephew, Christopher Coleman.

The family of Henrietta would like to specially thank her longtime friend, Ann Cilento, Hospice of Orleans and all the other caregivers that helped with her final journey. It was Henrietta’s wish to donate her body to science to help others in research and education.
