Helen Godfrey

Helen H. Godfrey, 93, of Middleport, died Jan. 23, 2019 in Orchard Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, following a long illness. She was born May 18, 1925 in Punxsutawney, Pa. to Hugh and Ida (Hall) Edmondson, and she lived in the Western New York area most of her life.

Helen was a longtime member of Middleport United Methodist Church and, as a faithful woman, read her Bible twice a day. She was a person who was full of life, which could be seen through her magnificent smile. That smile was on full display when she was enjoying time with her family, as Helen was a very social person. She also enjoyed traveling in her earlier years, particularly to Florida with her husband.

Mrs. Godfrey was predeceased by her husband, Almond; and by her 11 siblings.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Pauline) Godfrey of Colorado, Michael Godfrey of Lyndonville, and Dennis (Shari) Godfrey of Middleport; daughters, Diane (late Philip) MacDonald of Lyndonville and Sharon (Jeffery) Hill of Middleport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

The family will receive friends on Sat., Feb. 2 from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, where her funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Lynhaven Cemetery.
