Hazel LakeHazel Carpenter Lake, of Albion, departed her earthly home on April 26, 2019. She was born in Medina to Matilda and Ernest Carpenter.

Hazel celebrated her 100th birthday this last Feb. 9 and enjoyed her special day with her family, with some coming from across the country. She had the sweetest of souls, and she left a void in our lives that will never be filled. She was an avid reader who could never have enough books stockpiled to read. Hazel also loved flowers and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, George; daughter, Peggy (Earl) Parker; sisters, Florence Yates and Elva Johnson; brother, Herbert Carpenter; son-in-law, Jack Conn; and daughters-in-law, Dorothy Lake and Susan Lake.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis Conn, Kenneth Lake, Ellen (Wayne) Kenyon, and Douglas (Ruth) Lake; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be private, and a celebration of her well-lived life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., Albion. To share a special memory of Hazel, please visit www.mitchellfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
