American flagHarley W. Anderson, 92, of Lyndonville, went to be with the Lord on Tue., Dec. 11, 2018 at his home, with his loving family at his side.

Born on Aug. 11, 1926 in Highland Park, Mich., he was the son of the late Charles and Pauline Anderson.

Harley came from Michigan to the Lockport area and graduated from Barker High School in 1942. He shoveled coal for the Bewley Building in Lockport and later worked for Harrison Radiator. On Sept. 24, 1945, Harley enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Upon returning home, Harley worked as a skilled machinist for E&M Enterprises in Middleport until his retirement. Harley, along with his wife, Gertrude, lovingly fostered numerous children for 43 years in their home. In Harley’s spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.

Harley is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gertrude Anderson; nine children, Robert (Missy) Eckerd Jr., Norman Eckerd, Michael Eckerd, Vicki Eckerd, Cindy Herb, Susan (Pete Beecher) Birch, Kimberly (Robert) Stawicki, Lynn (Ronald) Olear, Karen (Roger) Kasprzak, and Darlene Anderson-Schwarzkopf; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Harley is predeceased by a brother, Carl Anderson.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 22 at Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndonville, with the Rev. Daniel A. Thurber officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Lyndonville and Medina American Legion posts, and the Medina V.F.W.
