Gerry Zavitz

JAMESVILLE/ALBION – Gerry Maxime Zavitz, 79, passed away quietly in his sleep on Feb. 8, 2021. He was born in Albion, NY to Ross and Ruth (Pilon) Zavitz and lived in this area most of this life until moving to Syracuse.

He attended DeSales High school graduating in 1959 and then went on to Niagara University. He was a member of Holy Family Parish (formerly St. Joseph’s Church), and Knights of Columbus.

Gerry was the owner and operator of Zavitz Motor Corp for many years and worked at various dealerships throughout his life. He always had a smile on his face, accompanied by a huge heart and spirit. If you knew him, Gerry was one of a kind. He was happy-go-lucky, free spirited, adventurous and had the best laugh ever.

He was predeceased by his partner of several years, Carol Wilsey.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Gramlich of Brockport, John Zavitz of Syracuse, Sara (Rob) Trapani of Spencerport, and Scott (Kelly) Zavitz of Kentucky; grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha and Benjamin Gramlich, Arden, Addison and Abel Zavitz, Sabrina Trapani and Graham Zavitz; brother, Charles (Betty) Zavitz of California; former wife and longtime friend, Joan Zavitz of Brockport; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and Goddaughter, Becky Karls.

There will be no calling hours.  A mass of Christian burial will be on Mon., Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish- St. Joseph’s Church, W. Park St., Albion, NY 14411. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Please note the Church will be operating at 50% capacity per state guidelines. New York State requires those in attendance to adhere to social distancing guidelines and face coverings are mandatory.
