Gerhardt RiemerAmerican flagGerhardt W. Riemer, 91, of Wolcottsville, died July 4, 2020 in Buffalo General Hospital following a short illness. He was born Dec. 11, 1928 in Medina to Paul and Gertrude (Voigt) Riemer and lived in this area his entire life.

Gerhardt was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Army Ordinance Corps in Yuma, Ariz. He was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville and served in many capacities within the church. He took great pleasure in being with his family.

Mr. Riemer was predeceased by his wife, Betty Jane; a brother, David Riemer; and a sister, Eunice Foote.

He is survived by his children, Debra (William) Trowbridge of Missouri, Marcia (David) Webster of Minnesota, Timothy (Kristin) Riemer of Wolcottsville, Mary (Daniel) Hahn of Pennsylvania, Susan (Alex) Knowles of Angola, N.Y., and Michael Riemer of Wolcottsville; a brother, Martin Riemer of Wolcottsville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Fri., Aug. 14 (please note the date) from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 6377 Wolcottsville Road, Akron NY 14001, where his funeral service will be held Sat., Aug. 15 beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
