Gerald R. Grimes

Gerald R. Grimes, 78, of Medina, NY, went to his heavenly home on Sun., Aug. 21, 2022 at his home.

Born on May 14, 1944 in Medina, NY, he was the son of the late Wesley S. and Ethel E. (Howes) Grimes.

Gerald attended the Culvert Rd. Country Schoolhouse and later graduated from Medina High School in 1962, where he met his high school sweetheart Patricia Kozloski while both performing in the high school musical “Oklahoma.”  On Aug. 1, 1964 they married and together they raised two daughters. Right out of high school, Gerald worked as an apprentice at Phinney Tool & Die, the former E & M Enterprises in Middleport and lastly as a Skilled Machinist for Harrison Radiator and retired in 2007 after 30 years of dedicated service.  Along with his wife, they both attended Rhema Bible Training College in Oklahoma from 1979 to 1980. Upon returning home they founded the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church on Rt. 31 in Medina.

He took great pride working on his house of 57 years on Freeman Rd. meticulously taking care of his landscaping and gardening, splitting firewood and working on his Gravely tractor. He also enjoyed spoiling his faithful companion, “Snickers.”

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Grimes, two daughters, Amy (Vernon) Miller and Pamela (Brian) Canham , all of Medina, grandchildren, Lauren (Connor) Lewis of State College  PA, Brittany (Joe) Sloan of Fort Erie, Ont. Canada, Darren (Danielle) Canham of Buffalo, Rene (Ronald) Chrostowski of Orchard Park, two great grandchildren, Roman Chrostowski and Eoin Sloan of Fort Erie, Ont. Canada, siblings, Gordon W. Grimes of Medina and Beverly (Brad) Little of Silver Creek, a brother-in-law, Herbert Brant Jr. and several nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are good neighbors, Tim Laird and “nosey neighbor” Ken Eick.

Besides his parents, Gerald is predeceased by two sister-in-laws, Joann Grimes and Joanne Brant.

There are no calling hours. A service of remembrance will be held at 11 am on Sat., Sept. 3, 2022 at the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church, 11945 Million Dollar Hwy, Medina, NY 14103 with the Pastor Sam Hershberger officiating and visiting Pastor Merrill Bender co-officiating.  Burial will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gerald’s name to Richard Knights-Sue Kaderli Memorial Fund, P.O.Box 684, Medina, NY 14103; or to Supportive Care of Orleans, 14080 NY-31, Albion, NY 14411.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 1403.
